Planning a Wedding on a Budget

January 6th, 2012

With your matrimonial approaching soon, you need to start getting more careful about how your plan your wedding, or you will one day realize you have gone way overboard your budget, and you just didn’t realize how. With more and more Indian weddings getting influenced by television and bollywood, everyone tends to get a little extravagant when it comes to celebrating the wedding. Not only does this include your ceremony but a platter of other events that typically span over a week.

Matrimonial

It is understandable that while you are planning your matrimonial event you want to take all the possible measures with respect to cutting costs without having to compromise on the quality of the events you host.

1.  The first thing to do is to involve both the families and discuss the scale at which you intend to take the wedding. If this isn’t done, there can be a major disconnect in expectations. The idea is to make sure you are on the same page when it comes to how elaborate you want the wedding to be.

2.  Also have clarity on who will be paying for what or what percent of the expenses will be borne by whom. You do not want to ruin a happy occasion with these stresses closer to the day of the wedding.

3.  Now that you have settled the nitty-gritty’s of basic budgeting and payment, start talking to various vendors such as banquet halls, caterers, bands etc and acquire quotes. Get a basic idea of the average cost of these in market and shortlist those which are closest to your budget.

4.  Don’t be afraid to work around your expectations to be able to stick to the budget. Just because you have a budgeted wedding does not mean it’s going to be of low quality.

5.  Statistics show that almost all wedding spends exceed by about 15%. So keep that buffer in mind while you are setting aside a budget.

6.  In addition to the basic wedding expenses such as venue, decor, catering, jewelry, attire, invitations, and photography, there are a number of hidden costs that also need to be consideration. Simple things like delivery of the invitations, salon and mehendi for the bride, etc. Try to dissect as many aspects of planning the matrimonial as possible, to minimize the surprises when it comes to planning the event.

7.  Always keep an eye out for deals. For example, many stylists will offer early bird discounts to those brides who book them in advance. Try buying your wedding outfits at sales. If you look hard enough, you are bound to find some great designer wear at a reasonable cost.

8.  Every penny saved is a penny earned. Plan the logistics of your wedding to ensure optimum efficiency when it comes to hosting your guests without having to waste any additional expenses.

Additionally, work on your negotiation skills. The harder you bargain the more you save. Do be afraid to demand for what you expect out of your matrimonial event. There will always be a vendor out there who will be more than willing you offer you his services.

When people wish to get married, invariably all of them expect a long term relationship. Very few would think of marriage as a short-term exercise. Getting married is a huge step. If you are not sure whether you are ready to take that big step, these 5 reasons to get married will help you decide.

Found that one person for you
The top reason to get married is because you found that one person who is perfect for you. You found the person you want to live the rest of your life with. This person you feel is marriage material. That is a real reason to get married.

Romance
Romance makes a great reason to get married. You can kiss or hug your partner whenever you want. If you want to hold hands, you can. The respect and commitment that come with a formal marriage can enhance the romantic value of the couple’s relationship. After you are married, you will see the romance blossom.

Family
Raising a family together is perhaps the most intimate relationship of all. It’s not easy to bring children into the world, you have to settle down and have a family. After getting married, you can start having a family together. This is a great reason to get married.

Household support
It is easier to hold up the household when you are married. You will have shared duties, and you are not stuck doing everything alone. After all, sharing a home means that both of you have invested in a future together.

Health
People who are married live an average of 10 years longer than those who are not married. It may be linked to the fact that most married people have lots of love and attention and of course health coverage. So get married and you will live longer and be healthier.

After reading these reasons, you may be able to come to a decision about whether you want to marry, and when you should do so.

We all know that brides take most responsibilities when you talk about wedding planning and you will probably see her disappointed and stressed throughout the day. The worst case is she may have a hard time to provide quality time for each other. What can we do to make them happy? What are the steps to take when they are out of rhythm or out of control? And what can we do to help them get through the stressful road of wedding planning? These are some questions a typical groom have in mind and they are desperately looking for an answer.

There is a lot of things you can have if you are gifted with good listening skills. You will probably be in one of the best call center companies in world which only requires great listening skills. It is really hard to develop this ability especially if you do not know when to talk and when to just listen. However, since I have been in call center industry for years, I can give you three rules to follow to be a great listener. First, understanding the situation: You must understand the entire situation before you can give advice and a resolution. Think first before giving out your own ideas and opinion. Making her feel comfortable is the main ingredient to be a good listener. Second, learn to Empathize: put your self in your brides’ shoes and let her feel she is completely understood. Do not make unnecessary judgment that will make her angry or down. Finally do not mistreat your bride: no matter how big the problem is, try to understand the situation and get through with the problem together. Considering different options to get through the puzzle is always the best solution. When you are working in a call center, mistreating a customer will result to termination or dismissal. So what will be the consequences of mistreating a bride? The answer could be fatal. Making your bride comfortable talking to you and letting them know that you are on their side is the best breathing room for your future wife.

Do not be afraid to share your thoughts and opinion. After listening to the current situation you must come up with an answer. If you think they are wrong, do not tell them they are not on the right track and need to change things. All you need to do is to offer alternative and suggest it in an acceptable manner. Making decisions together and considering each side is a good way to solve the confusions. Be aware that not all bride will get use to the environment of wedding planning. Sometimes they do not have time to go over certain things that might caught your attention. You should remember that wedding planning requires focus, patience and attention to details. Supporting your future wife on every decision she make is like helping her to reach the top of the mountain. She needs your patience to guide her through different route that she need to face. Wedding planning is such a huge task. Thus, facing each challenges requires a mutual decision and love for each other. This is just the beginning of a long journey that you will face for the rest of your lives. Getting through it will always depend on how you handle the situation.

8 Ideas For Engagement Presents

September 7th, 2010

Engagement presents can be hard to shop for. Why not try an alternative approach and walk around your house and consider what you want or need and compare that with an engaged couple?

As you leave your home, it is common to check your appearance to make sure your hair is not out of place and is looking good, there are no marks on your face, your clothes looked pressed and crisp. So why not buy a stylish mirror for the engaged couple.

If you want your engagement present to be the centre of attention, the ideal room has to be the lounge. Often the busiest room in the house, there are a number of things you could buy. You could purchase a painting, a photograph, a standard photo frame or perhaps a digital one.

Does the engaged couple love to cook? Then the perfect gift may be for the kitchen. Consider a knife or utensils set or a dinner set to include dinner plates, bowls, cups and glasses.

Perhaps cutlery for the dining room would suit the couple better or presentation bowl for fruit, dessert or drink, think punch or juice.

Maybe you want something a little more distinct and you want to buy a engagement present that stands out from the rest. A risky strategy, one that may lead to disaster or make you shine above the rest. Consider a tree, plant, pet or how about a garden gnome, a hose or a sprinkler.

How about something for the shed? If either of the couple enjoy or frequently do DIY, consider some tools for the basic essentials, think hammer, screw driver, pliers, wire cutters and nails.

Are you thinking of an engagement present for the bedroom? How about some candles, so they can make the best of a romantic evening. Bed sheets or cover for the couple to roll around, cuddle and get snug in.

Before or after a big day, how about something to help them unwind like scented candles and massage oils to help the stress drift away.

Engagement presents can be delight to give, careful thought will ensure they are a delight to receive.
