The auspicious festival of Chaitra Navratri <\/strong><\/a>is being celebrated with full gusto and excitement. The 9-day long festivity began this year from April 13 and will last till Ram Navami<\/strong><\/a> on April 21 respectively. During this time period, nine different forms of Devi Durga are worshiped.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The 9-day long festivity began this year from April 13 and will last till Ram Navami on April 21 respectively. PRAY TO GODDESS SKANDAMATA ON NAVRATRI DAY 5<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

On the fifth day of Navratri, Devi Skandamata<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is worshipped. She is the motzher of Skanda, who is Lord Kartikeya\u2014the god of wars, as per some beliefs. In this form of Durga, Skanda i.e Lord Kartikeya can be seen comfortably seated on Mata’s lap. Therefore, she is known by the name Skandamata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goddess has four arms and the lion is her vehicle. She can be seen holding two lotus flowers and one of her hands is always in the blessing posture. She holds <\/strong>Lord Kartikeya<\/em><\/strong><\/a> in her lap with the other hand. Goddess Skandamata is also known as the Padmasana which stands for the lotus-seated.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Devotees pray to the goddess for seeking salvation, prosperity and power. Her power is such that she can impart knowledge and wisdom to the most illiterate person if he worships her. Whoever prays to her selflessly feels a purity of heart.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While praying to her and seeking her blessings, a devotee automatically gets to worship Lord Skanda – Kartikeya<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. He too blesses the person, who prays to Skandamata with a pure heart and mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skandamata is also known as ‘Goddess of Fire’ and praying to her ultimately opens the door to salvation.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
